Health and disaster risk: a contribution by the United Nations to the consultation leading to the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR)

This document provides some key recommendations for addressing disaster risk in health in the post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction. It presents: (i) the status of mainstreaming disaster risk in health, reporting on the progresses and highlighting some emerging trends; (ii) the drivers for mainstreaming disaster risk into health, including climate variability and climate change; (iii) recommendations for addressing disaster risk in health in the next global framework for disaster risk reduction; (iv) the regional/international policy frameworks and initiatives within health to be targeted (other than HFA2); (v) measuring disaster risk in health; (vi) a list of agencies contributing and very brief description of institutional commitment; and (vii) key documents/source of additional info.
