Critical Infrastructure Protection and Resilience Europe 2017

TORCH MARKETING

Critical Infrastructure Protection and Resilience, Europe (CIPRE) will be held in The Hague on the 9-11 May 2017. The unique two-track conference programme will address the need to secure Europe’s critical infrastructure. The conference provides a forum to discuss the ever-changing nature of threats, whether natural or man-made, either physical or cyber attacks, as well as the need to continually review and update policies, practices and technologies to meet these demands.

Conference Programme
The conference will be opened by Sir Julian King, Commissioner for Security Union, European Commission.

The first plenary session, Convergence in Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP), will discuss how a collaborative approach to CIP and CIIP is a priority if Europe is to effectively safeguard critical infrastructure. As more and more essential systems are managed electronically, interdependence between systems both physical and cyber needs to be clearly understood to ensure the delivery of services in the face of natural disasters, terrorist attacks, and criminal activity.

After the plenary session on the first day, the conference breaks down into the two-track programme, one track for physical security and one for cyber security, which come together again on the last day for a final plenary session.

Critical Infrastructure Protection
With a focus on convergence, the CIP track will review the potential threats to critical infrastructure, smart construction and building for security resilience. This track will have a focus on ‘Transport, Energy & Telecomms Infrastructure’, three key elements of a countries economic activity.

Critical Information Infrastructure Protection
With the ever increasing threat from cyber attacks on critical infrastructure, the information and data stored and used by CNI systems and operators can be more crucial than the system itself. CIIP is becoming ever more important as part of the cyber security strategy of an organisation or CNI operator.

The conference programme set-up will provide enhanced opportunities for discussions between the physical infrastructure and cyber security tracks, who will need to work together in the combined plenary sessions.

Throughout the conference, every effort is made to ensure professionals from all areas of critical infrastructure protection are given every opportunity to meet, to mix, to share information and ideas. It is only through this kind of convergence and collaboration that the services and systems vital to the proper functioning of societies will be safeguarded again threats.
